Ahmed Ouali Alami, head of the Public Action and Penal Policy Execution Monitoring Division at the Presidency of the Public Prosecutor's Office, has made it clear that acts of violence, destruction, and arson are serious criminal offenses that clash with the principles of freedom of expression and carry heavy penalties under the Penal Code. In a statement to MAP, Ouali Alami emphasized that «the vandalism, arson, and violence targeting public and private property, which also endanger individuals' safety during unauthorized protests, are not forms of freedom of expression. These are criminal acts punishable by the Penal Code with severe sentences ranging from 10 to 20 years in prison. In certain cases, these penalties can escalate to 30 years or even life imprisonment if there are aggravating factors». These actions fundamentally threaten the safety and security of citizens and their possessions, Ouali Alami noted, insisting on the strict enforcement of the law to ensure the protection and peace of mind of the public.
