The judicial police in Casablanca have opened an investigation, under the supervision of the competent prosecutor's office, to determine the circumstances surrounding an attempted suicide by a police officer involved in a fatal shooting with his service weapon. According to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), initial findings indicate that a police brigadier assigned to the motorcycle unit fatally shot a woman he was accompanying in a private vehicle, for reasons yet to be determined. When police units were dispatched to arrest him, the officer attempted to flee, firing two shots without injuring anyone, before turning the gun on himself. He sustained a severe head injury and was transferred to intensive care in critical condition, while the victim's body was taken to the morgue for autopsy. Field investigations and forensic analyses are ongoing to uncover the motives behind the incident. According to preliminary findings, investigators are prioritizing the hypothesis of a crime of passion.
