The primary criminal chamber at the Court of Appeal in El Jadida has handed down a two-year prison sentence to a defendant convicted of violently sexually assaulting a minor. The Royal Gendarmerie in the Sidi Bouzid area apprehended the suspect following a complaint from the victim's mother. Upon questioning, it emerged that the 17-year-old defendant had been enticing the boy to his family home to engage in sexual acts, offering a phone as a lure. This occurred on four separate occasions, with the defendant allegedly threatening the boy with reprisals if he spoke out, as reported by Assabah newspaper. Acting on the Public Prosecution's directives, a judicial investigation was initiated, and the defendant was interrogated in the presence of his guardian. He initially admitted to the charges during questioning by the judicial police but later recanted his confession before the investigating judge. A medical examination provided evidence of recent sexual violence. Consequently, the court found him guilty and sentenced him to two years in prison, following his prosecution while in detention.
