Drones operated by the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) thwarted an attempted attack by the Polisario against targets in Es-Smara yesterday. «Elements of the armed militias of the separatist movement, aboard two vehicles, were preparing to launch Grad rockets on the city of Es-Smara. The intervention of the FAR drones managed to foil this terrorist plan», a well-informed source, who requested anonymity, revealed to Yabiladi. Members of the Polisario infiltrated an area east of the Sand Wall, coming from Mauritanian territory. According to a provisional report, at least ten militants of the Front were killed, our source specifies. The movement led by Brahim Ghali has yet to communicate about its losses. However, its supporters have launched a disinformation campaign on social media, claiming to have «captured 72 Moroccan soldiers». With these attacks thwarted by the FAR drones, the Polisario hoped to mark the fifth anniversary of the start of its «war» against Morocco with an operation aimed at boosting the morale of its troops and its base in the Tindouf camps.
