Spanish police in Malaga have arrested one of the most dangerous leaders of organized crime in Latin America shortly after his arrival from Morocco, according to security sources. The suspect was detained while traveling under a false identity, allowing authorities to activate an Interpol warrant issued by Ecuador on charges that include international drug trafficking, contract killings, and terrorist activities. Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa confirmed the arrest, calling it a major blow to the country's drug cartels. Investigators found that the detainee had faked his death in 2021 to evade justice before adopting a new identity and moving between Spain and the UAE to direct his criminal network. Spanish police described the arrest as «highly significant» given the international scope of the Los Lobos organization, which has been linked to bombings and drone attacks carried out from inside Guayaquil prisons. The suspect is also believed to have ties to the 2023 assassination plot against presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio.
