The public prosecutor at the El Jadida primary court ordered on Thursday the detention of streamer Ilyas El Maliki in the city's local prison, where he will be prosecuted in custody. El Maliki faces around 22 charges following complaints filed by several taxi drivers' unions and professional associations, who considered his recent statements to be defamatory and targeted at them. The charges include spreading false information with the intent to harm private life; slander and defamation against an individual or organized body; violating public morals by publicly disturbing social order through deliberate nudity; incitement to discrimination and the spread of hatred between people; prostitution-related offenses, including aiding and facilitating prostitution by any means; inciting minors under 18 to prostitution or encouraging or enabling them to engage in it; and possession and consumption of drugs, among others. The first hearing in the trial of the well-known streamer is scheduled for tomorrow, Friday. It is worth noting that the El Jadida Court of Appeal had previously sentenced Ilyas El Maliki to two months in prison last year on charges of inciting hatred and discrimination, following complaints lodged by Amazigh associations and individuals.
