On the sidelines of a Socialist International meeting chaired by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez in Valletta, Malta, a delegation from the USFP engaged in discussions with members of the Polisario. These exchanges were disclosed by a member of the Sahrawi Movement for Peace (MSP), who serves as an observer in the socialist organization alongside the Polisario Front. Representing the USFP were Khaoula Lachgar, daughter of the party's first secretary, and MP Aïcha Gorji, a Moroccan living in Catalonia. On the Polisario side, Mansour Omar and Abdellah Arabi, who represent the Polisario to the European Union and in Spain, took part in the dialogue. The discussions were described as calm and open, witnessed by other delegations from the Socialist International. It's noteworthy that the USFP youth had previously initiated exchanges with Polisario members through the International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY). Members of the 'Rose' party have also engaged in such meetings, particularly during Socialist International gatherings, such as one held in June 2012 in Spain. These discussions in Valletta come at a time when the United Nations is gearing up to launch a new round of dialogue involving the four parties concerned with the Western Sahara issue.
