The Supreme Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) reaffirmed on Wednesday in Manama the Moroccan identity of the Sahara and its support for the autonomy initiative as the basis for resolving the regional dispute. In its final communiqué, issued at the close of its 46th session held in the Bahraini capital, the Council also commended Resolution 2797 adopted by the United Nations Security Council on October 31, 2025, which recognizes the autonomy plan as an important step toward a realistic and workable solution. The GCC further welcomed King Mohammed VI's decision to submit the initiative to the Security Council and to designate October 31 each year as a national holiday known as Unity Day. This position reflects the GCC states' constant and unwavering support for Morocco, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, in defending the Kingdom's territorial integrity and full sovereignty over its entire territory.
