DR ‹ › The kick-off of the Africa Cup of Nations will see Morocco open the tournament against Comoros on Sunday evening at Rabat's Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, with kick-off set for 8:00 p.m. According to CAF statistics, Morocco have never lost to Comoros, including a 2–0 group-stage victory at AFCON 2021. Morocco are unbeaten in their last 11 AFCON group matches and have won their opening game in each of the last three editions, extending a long-standing trend that has seen host nations avoid defeat in AFCON openers since 1998, CAF revealed on Friday. Winners of the competition in 1976 and World Cup semi-finalists in 2022, the Atlas Lions also arrive in strong form after winning all six qualifying matches, scoring 26 goals and conceding just two, with Brahim Díaz finishing as the top scorer. Comoros, appearing at AFCON for only the second time, qualified unbeaten and will face a tournament host for the second consecutive edition, having previously been eliminated by Cameroon in the Round of 16 at AFCON 2021.
