DR ‹ › Graffiti discovered on the Church of Santa Maria in Trento, a city in northern Italy, on the night of December 26–27 has been linked to Moroccan football ultras rather than to «religious or political motives», according to local authorities. The church is a Renaissance and Baroque Roman Catholic building dating back to between 1520 and 1524. According to local newspaper Diocese of Trento, the inscriptions «do not appear to be blasphemous, nor do they contain references to Satan or anything offensive to the Christian faith». Investigations instead indicate that the graffiti relates to Moroccan football culture and Amazigh identity. Photos shared by Italian media show references to «Morocco», «Fes», «Agadir», «HUSA» (Hassania Union Sportive Agadir), and «Imazighen», a term meaning «free people» in Amazigh. The slogans are associated with Ultras Imazighen UI-06, a supporter group from Agadir, known for combining football symbolism with Amazigh cultural references.
