DR ‹ › The Permanent Committee for Road Safety (CPSR) held a meeting on Tuesday in Rabat to present a study project aimed at reducing road traffic fatalities by 2030, alongside a set of recommendations to address road safety challenges. Chairing the meeting, Minister of Transport and Logistics Abdessamad Kayouh said the study was developed by his department in collaboration with the National Road Safety Agency (NARSA), following consultations with all relevant stakeholders to propose effective and practical solutions to the sector's challenges. Kayouh reviewed road accident statistics for the 2024–2025 period, stressing that the study reflects on-the-ground realities and draws on international best practices through a participatory approach involving all concerned actors in efforts to strengthen road safety. He added that the project includes a legislative component, with proposals to amend certain provisions of the Highway Code, as well as recommendations related to mobilizing the logistical resources needed to support these reforms. For his part, NARSA Director General Benacer Boulaajoul explained that the study evaluates the first phase of the National Road Safety Strategy (SNRS) 2017–2021, updates its content, and contributes to the development of a new action plan for the 2026–2030 period. Boulaajoul also highlighted key road safety statistics and indicators, the main pillars of the SNRS 2026–2030, and the challenges that remain to be addressed. To ensure the effective implementation of the upcoming strategy, he called for improved governance, stronger human resources, an adequate budget, regulatory reforms, and further progress in digitalization.
