DR ‹ › Morocco's Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amine Tehraoui, on Friday, January 16, officially launched the services of 67 newly rehabilitated and equipped urban and rural health facilities across six regions of the Kingdom. The ceremony took place at the Moulay Ettehami (Ouled Azzouz) first-level urban health center in Nouaceur province, in the presence of regional and local authorities, according to a press release by the Health Ministry. The rollout forms part of efforts to reform and upgrade Morocco's national health system, and fits within the government program to rebuild, modernize, and equip 1,400 primary healthcare centers nationwide. In the Casablanca–Settat region, 18 facilities were brought into service, including first- and second-level urban health centers, rural health centers, emergency proximity units with maternity homes, and a tuberculosis and respiratory diseases diagnostic center. These facilities will serve 1,088,442 residents, supported by 142 healthcare professionals. The Tanger–Tétouan–Al Hoceima region saw the opening of seven facilities, including rural dispensaries, urban health centers, a second-level rural health center, and a rehabilitation center in Ksar El Kebir, benefiting 117,565 people and staffed by 46 professionals. In Guelmim–Oued Noun, four rural health facilities were launched in Guelmim province, serving 4,513 residents with eight healthcare workers. The Drâa–Tafilalet region gained 11 new facilities across Ouarzazate and Tinghir provinces, including rural and urban health centers and dispensaries, benefiting 77,829 people and supported by 47 professionals. In Marrakech–Safi, 18 health establishments were opened, ranging from urban and rural health centers to dispensaries and a tuberculosis and respiratory diseases diagnostic center, serving an estimated 1,571,580 residents with 60 healthcare professionals. Meanwhile, nine facilities entered service in the Souss–Massa region, including urban and rural health centers and diagnostic units, benefiting 856,745 people and staffed by 99 professionals. All centers have been equipped with high-quality medical equipment and staffed with qualified personnel, offering a broad package of services including general consultations, nursing care, chronic disease follow-up, maternal and child health services, school health, health awareness programs, epidemiological surveillance, and mobile health services.
