DR ‹ › The primary criminal chamber at the Court of Appeal in El Jadida has handed down a five-year prison sentence to a young man, following his conviction in a case involving the sexual assault of a minor. This case began with a complaint lodged by the mother of a 16-year-old with the Royal Gendarmerie in Zemamra. She accused a man of kidnapping, detaining, and sexually assaulting her daughter. According to the mother, her daughter, a high school student in Sidi Bennour who resides in the school's dormitory, had left the premises to buy schoolbooks. It was at this point, as reported by the Assabah newspaper, that the accused intercepted her and coerced her into accompanying him. The complaint states that the minor was taken to a secluded area and later to a house in a nearby village, where she spent the night with the accused before being returned to her school the following day. The victim's mother presented a medical certificate confirming the sexual assault, which the accused admitted to.
