DR ‹ › The French Minister of Justice, Gérald Darmanin, is set to visit Morocco on February 2nd and 3rd, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to bolster judicial cooperation between the two nations. Central to this initiative is the battle against drug trafficking and organized crime, as reported by RFI on Monday. In recent days, Gérald Darmanin has been publicizing his upcoming visit through his social media channels, following a preliminary meeting with Samira Sitaïl, the Moroccan ambassador to France. This trip follows his previous visit to Rabat in March 2025, during which the cooperation between the two countries proved successful in tackling several trafficking-related cases. In January of last year, Morocco extradited Félix Bingui to France. Bingui, suspected of leading the Marseille-based Yoda gang, was arrested and extradited from the kingdom. In June, French-Moroccan Badiss Mohammed Bajjou was transferred to French authorities after being captured in Tangier. He is accused of orchestrating kidnappings within the cryptocurrency sector. Last August, two accomplices of the drug trafficker Mohamed Amra were apprehended in Morocco for their alleged roles in Amra's escape from a prison van in France. This escape, which occurred in May 2024, tragically resulted in the deaths of two prison guards. Gérald Darmanin has previously expressed satisfaction with these operations, extending his gratitude to the Moroccan authorities and his counterpart, Abdellatif Ouahbi, for their collaboration.
