DR ‹ › The United Arab Emirates has extended its condolences and solidarity to Morocco following the catastrophic floods that have swept through various regions of the country. These floods, triggered by torrential rains, have resulted in both casualties and injuries. In an official statement, the Emirati Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its «heartfelt condolences and deep sympathy» to the families of the victims, as well as to the Moroccan government and people. The ministry also wished a swift recovery for all those injured. The diplomatic ties between Rabat and Abu Dhabi are considered strong, particularly since the opening of a United Arab Emirates consulate general in Laâyoune in November 2020. This development marked the resolution of a diplomatic rift between the two nations, which had been strained due to disagreements over the 2017 blockade of Qatar by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Egypt.
