DR ‹ › The General Directorate of Meteorology has announced that snowfall, thunderstorms, heavy rain, strong winds, and a cold wave are expected from Monday, through Thursday across several regions of the Kingdom. In an «orange»-level weather alert, the Directorate stated that snowfall is expected at elevations above 1,400 meters. Accumulations of 25 to 35 cm are forecast in the provinces of Taroudant, Al Haouz, Azilal, and Ouarzazate, while 15 to 25 cm are expected in Midelt, Beni Mellal, Ifrane, Khénifra, Boulemane, Chichaoua, and Tinghir. The snowfall is set to begin at midnight on Tuesday and continue until 6 a.m. on Thursday. Thunderstorms, possibly accompanied by hail, are also forecast, with rainfall totals ranging from 30 to 40 mm in Al Hoceima, Sefrou, Fez, Moulay Yacoub, Taounate, Meknes, El Hajeb, Ifrane, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Khemisset, and Khénifra. These conditions are expected today, Monday, between 1 p.m. and 11 p.m. Locally heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are further anticipated, with 25 to 35 mm expected in Essaouira, Safi, Tiznit, Taroudant, Inezgane Ait Melloul, Chtouka Ait Baha, Agadir, Ida Ou Tanane, and Sidi Ifni from midnight to noon on Tuesday. Higher totals of 40 to 60 mm are forecast in M'diq-Fnideq, Tetouan, Chefchaouen, Fahs-Anjra, and Tangier-Asilah from 3 p.m. on Tuesday until noon on Wednesday. Strong, stormy winds accompanied by dust, reaching speeds of 75 to 85 km/h, are also expected in Tiznit, Ouarzazate, Zagora, Errachidia, Midelt, Boulemane, Figuig, and Jerada from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesday. In addition, a cold wave is forecast for Wednesday, with temperatures ranging between minus 3 and minus 9 degrees Celsius in Beni Mellal, Azilal, Al Haouz, Tinghir, Midelt, and Ouarzazate.
