DR ‹ › The Court of First Instance in Sidi Ifni has convicted a bus driver employed by a private company responsible for transporting security personnel following a fatal road accident that occurred on Saturday, February 21, on the road linking Sidi Ifni and Tiznit. The crash left four police officers dead and several others injured, some seriously. The court sentenced the driver to four months in prison, imposed a fine of 4,000 dirhams, and suspended his driving license for one year. He was also fined 300 dirhams for exceeding the legal speed limit. According to media reports, a technical inspection of the bus, along with investigations conducted by the Royal Gendarmerie, confirmed that excessive speed was the direct cause of the accident. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which overturned. The bus had been on an official mission to transport national security personnel from Sidi Ifni to Agadir, where they were scheduled to help secure a football match at Adrar Stadium, when it veered off the road.
