DR ‹ › The Higher Council of Ulemas has announced the amount of Zakat Al Fitr for the year 1447/2026 in Morocco, setting it at 25 dirhams per person, while noting that those who wish may contribute more. In its statement, the council explained that Zakat Al Fitr traditionally consists of offering a prophetic bushel (Saâ nabaoui), equivalent to four amdad per person, based on the staple foods consumed by the population, which corresponds to approximately 2.5 kilograms of cereals or flour. It may also be given in the form of money. Zakat Al Fitr, the alms given at the end of Ramadan and a symbol of solidarity in Islam, is a sunnah that Muslims are encouraged to fulfill before Eid Al Fitr, within a period of up to three days before the holiday. The head of the household is responsible for paying it on behalf of all those under their care.
