La Coruña Stadium ‹ › The city of A Coruña has announced its withdrawal from the bid to host matches during the 2030 FIFA World Cup, for which it had been one of the candidate cities in Spain's joint organization with Morocco and Portugal. Local media reported that Mayor Inés Rey said the decision was taken for organizational and economic reasons. She stressed that the city is «fully qualified» to host matches, but chose not to proceed with the project due to the significant investment and logistical requirements involved, which do not align with the city's current priorities. «A Coruña cannot host the World Cup at any cost», she said. A Coruña's withdrawal is not an isolated case. The city of Málaga also confirmed a few days ago that it was pulling out of the list of Spanish cities competing to host matches during the 2030 tournament. Several other Spanish cities remain in the running to stage games, including Madrid (at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium and Metropolitano Stadium), Barcelona (Camp Nou and RCDE Stadium), Seville (La Cartuja Stadium), Zaragoza (La Romareda Stadium), Bilbao (San Mamés Stadium), San Sebastián (Anoeta Stadium), and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
