Hicham Sabiry (PAM) / DR ‹ › The Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), a member of the governing coalition, is distancing itself from the exceptional aid announced by the Akhannouch government to support transport professionals. The measure, intended to offset the impact of global oil price fluctuations, was unveiled on Tuesday, but not all coalition partners are on board. Hicham Sabiry, Secretary of State for Employment, voiced his reservations during a program broadcast on Al Aoula on Tuesday. According to him, the aid targets a limited group rather than the broader population. «Our position is clear: every decision must prioritize citizens and their purchasing power, not a specific sector», he said, adding, «Should we be focusing on sectoral interests or on citizens?» Addressing the fuel price increase that took effect on March 16, Sabiry acknowledged its impact on Moroccan households and stressed the need for a fair distribution of support measures. «State efforts should not benefit a single economic category», he said, calling for greater social equity. This position is in line with PAM's ongoing criticism of sector-specific aid. In a statement issued on March 12, the party called for the removal of customs and tax exemptions introduced to lower meat prices, arguing that they had proven ineffective. It also urged the government to crack down on speculators and corrupt operators who exploit their networks to profit from the crisis. With legislative elections scheduled for September 23 drawing closer, political lines are becoming more clearly defined. Against the backdrop of Aziz Akhannouch's announced withdrawal, PAM, like the Istiqlal Party, is seeking to assert itself as a key force on the national political stage.
