DR ‹ › The Senegalese Football Federation is poised to lodge an appeal today, Tuesday, with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne. This action challenges the decision to revoke the «Lions of Teranga» of their Africa Cup of Nations title, which they secured on the pitch after a contentious final against Morocco last January. Moussa Mbaye, an executive committee member of the Senegalese federation, announced this during an interview on a national channel. He confirmed that the federation is set to initiate legal proceedings, urging the public to disregard misinformation and await official announcements. The Senegalese official asserted, «We will not act out of emotion, but in a calm and rational manner to ensure the best defense of Senegal's interests.» He further mentioned that the lawyer managing the case is an expert in sports disputes and has secured multiple victories at the Court of Arbitration for Sport, including a successful defense of Morocco after the Confederation of African Football's decision to exclude them from two editions of the Africa Cup of Nations in 2015, due to their refusal to host the tournament. This development follows a decision by the appeals committee of the African Football Confederation, issued on March 17. The committee deemed that the Senegalese team had withdrawn from the final match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, thereby awarding the victory to Morocco with a default score of 3-0.
