DR ‹ › The Polisario leadership's attempt to downplay the issue of a racist attack against a black child has faltered. Yesterday, anti-racism activists in the Tindouf camps, united under the Association for Freedom and Democracy, staged a sit-in outside the Front's administrative headquarters in Rabouni. As seen in previous protests organized by this NGO on March 7 and 14, the majority of demonstrators were black Sahrawis. The attack on the child was also highlighted by Abdelouahab Gaïm, president of the Africa Watch Association for Human Rights, during the 61st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, which took place from February 23 to March 31 in Geneva. This week, the Alliance of Sahrawi NGOs sounded the alarm over the «persistence of racial discrimination» in the Tindouf camps. It's worth noting that the Association for Freedom and Progress had already organized a sit-in in December 2022 to protest «the practices of slavery and racial discrimination» in the Tindouf camps.
