DR ‹ › Visa, a global leader in digital payments, has announced a strategic partnership with Switch Al Maghrib (SWAM), a vital national infrastructure and operator of payment interoperability, to enhance payment security in Morocco. As part of the agreement, SWAM will integrate Visa Advanced Authorization (Network Agnostic VAA) into its security system, strengthening fraud monitoring for domestic card transactions processed through the national switch, reads a press release. The solution, part of Visa Protect within the Visa Value-Added Services suite, uses artificial intelligence to generate real-time fraud risk scores at the authorization stage, helping prevent fraud before transactions are approved. The initiative aims to improve fraud detection capabilities for both online and in-store payments, while ensuring a seamless payment experience for consumers and merchants. «The security of electronic payments is a fundamental pillar of trust», said Hanae Ben Driss, CEO of SWAM. «By integrating Visa Advanced Authorization at the heart of the national switch, we are significantly strengthening the Moroccan ecosystem's ability to detect and prevent fraud in real time». Leila Serhan, Visa's Group Country Manager for North Africa, the Levant and Pakistan, welcomed the partnership, stating that deploying Visa's AI-driven fraud prevention capabilities at the infrastructure level reinforces a shared commitment to security, innovation, and consumer protection. SWAM, licensed and supervised by Bank Al-Maghrib, is one of Morocco's five financial market infrastructures. It handles the routing and authorization of transactions, clearing of electronic payments, and settlement between issuers and acquirers. Visa operates in more than 200 countries and territories, connecting consumers, businesses, financial institutions, and governments through its global payment network.
