DR ‹ › Spain's National Police is seeking Morocco's cooperation to determine the full extent of a newly discovered drug-smuggling tunnel in the Tarajal industrial area of Ceuta, near the border, just about a hundred meters from another tunnel uncovered by the Civil Guard last year. According to the Spanish news agency EFE, citing sources close to the investigation, details about the tunnel remain limited. However, it is already considered more sophisticated than the previous one, as it is equipped with a mechanical lift system used to transport shipments. Police specialists from the tunnel unit have begun inspecting the industrial warehouse where the passage was found. Initial findings suggest that the tunnel extends toward Moroccan territory, making cooperation with Moroccan authorities essential to establish its full route and endpoint. The discovery comes close to another tunnel uncovered in late February 2025 during Operation «Hades». That passage linked Ceuta to Morocco and was believed to have been used to smuggle large quantities of hashish into the city, leading to several arrests. Meanwhile, security forces have sealed off the warehouses concerned, including the one housing the newly discovered tunnel and adjacent buildings, while continuing efforts to drain water from inside the passage.
