DR ‹ › During the 2026 Operation Marhaba, the port of Almeria will be equipped with shaded facilities covering a total of 7,525 square meters, spread across nine tents and one traditional tent, to help reduce waiting times for travelers heading to Morocco. The project carries a cost of €141,830, with most installations concentrated in the pre-boarding area, where the two largest structures will be set up, according to Europa Press. The plan includes two large vehicle tents measuring 3,400 and 2,400 square meters, a 50-square-meter structure at checkpoint P1, a 25-square-meter traditional tent for the Spanish Red Cross, and another 180-square-meter tent near the Civil Guard and the maritime station. In addition, three more structures totaling 420 square meters will be installed at gate number 4. The project also provides for two reserve tents of 525 square meters each, with no fixed location, to be deployed if needed in case of emergencies. Of the total area, 6,475 square meters are allocated to standard Marhaba facilities, while 1,050 square meters are reserved for contingency use. Installation is scheduled to begin on June 15. Most structures will remain in place until September 1, while the tent at checkpoint P1 will stay until September 15, and the one near the Civil Guard and maritime station until November 15. The deployment of the two reserve tents will depend on operational needs.
