DR ‹ › On Tuesday, during a plenary session, the Chamber of Advisors approved by majority the draft bill 16.22 on the organization of the Adoul profession. The bill was adopted with 20 votes in favor, one against, and 11 abstentions. Presenting the text, Minister of Justice Abdelatif Ouahbi said the amendments are part of ongoing reforms in the judicial sector and aim to strengthen the role of the profession as an auxiliary of justice. He stressed that the draft law «revisits several key aspects of the legal framework governing the profession». Among the measures introduced, the minister highlighted provisions related to rights and obligations, including setting a maximum period of six months to begin practice following notification of appointment, as well as disciplinary sanctions for professionals who cease their activities. At the procedural and organizational level, he noted that documents only acquire official status after validation by the judge in charge of notarial affairs. The new text also revises the structure of the National Order of Adouls and the modalities for electing its councils. Regarding the amendments, the majority introduced several changes, notably the establishment of a competitive examination system for access to the profession, reinforcing the principle of equal opportunity while opening the field to academic profiles and doctorate holders. The reform also promotes gender equality within the framework of lafif testimony and encourages digitization to streamline authentication procedures.
