A few weeks after Morocco severed diplomatic ties with Iran, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah reacted, blaming the Israeli intelligence services. In a televised speech on the 18th anniversary of Lebanon's Resistance and Liberation Day, leader of the Shiite party, Hezbollah, said Friday that arguments presented by Morocco to prove the alleged support of his party to the Polisario are unfounded. Hassan Nasrallah accused the Israeli intelligence services of having provided the Kingdom with the names of Hezbollah leaders. He has also accused some countries, including Morocco, of trying to find «false arguments to cut ties» with the Lebanese party as Rabat «did a few weeks ago». «[The Moroccan foreign minister] said he had submitted a report to the Iranian Foreign Minister about Hezbollah's support to the Polisario Front. I was contacted by my brother, the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs who promised to investigate the issue», he said. «When I asked the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs to show me these documents, he told me that the Moroccan minister who claims to have presented us with arguments and documents, did not agree to hand over a single paper. When he asked him to give him this document, he (Nasser Bourita, ed) told him to write it down». A recording or witnesses ?» Before claiming that Rabat has nothing in hand to prove its accusations. In his speech, the Hezbollah leader pointed at the Israeli intelligence services, accusing them of «handing Morocco names that have nothing to do with this». According to him, Hezbollah and the Polisario «have nothing in common and do not share the same political views and thoughts». The Lebanese leader stressed that what was said by Morocco through its Foreign Affairs minister will «not impact the party's determination». For the record, it is the second time that Hezbollah reacts to the rupture of diplomatic ties between Rabat and Tehran. The first political party in Lebanon had denied, through an official statement earlier this month, the Kingdom's accusations. On May the 1st, Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita announced that Morocco is severing diplomatic ties with Iran, citing Hezbollah's support for the Polisario Front. The minister said that Rabat has irrefutable proof for that.
