Following his meetings on Tuesday in Washington with National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita met on Wednesday, April 9, with Republican Congressman Joe Wilson, co-chair of the Congressional Morocco Caucus alongside Brad Schneider. The discussions focused on «long-standing partnership and commitment to peace in the region including the stability of Western Sahara from Polisario terrorists. The U.S. stands with Morocco for peace», Wilson said after the meeting. It's worth noting that Congressman Wilson had previously urged Donald Trump—even before his inauguration on January 20—to designate the Polisario as a terrorist organization, a goal Morocco hopes to see realized during Trump's presidency. The kingdom is also pursuing a similar effort within the African Union, as reported previously by Yabiladi. Also on Wednesday in Washington, Minister Bourita met with Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart, a member of the House Defense Committee and the Congressional Morocco Caucus. «Under King Mohammed VI's reign, Morocco has become a crucial U.S. ally and partner for peace in the Middle East–even more so since it joined the Abraham Accords», said the Republican lawmaker.
