Ranked second in 2023-2024, Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi has won the Marc-Vivien Foé Award for the 2024-2025 season, which recognizes the best African player in Ligue 1 and is awarded by RFI-France 24. The Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) full-back was honored for the first time in his career during the UNFP Trophies ceremony. In an interview with France24, the footballer expressed his joy: «I hope to win more! And join the ranks of the great players. I am very proud of myself», he declared. The organizers praised the prodigy, who continues to achieve feats with his club, including this latest honor, «a month after being crowned French champion and five days after being named man of the match in the Champions League semi-final against Arsenal». Antoine Grognet, a journalist with RFI's sports department, quoted by France24, believes it is «a well-deserved reward for the defender, who had an outstanding season». «After waiting for his turn for a long time, Achraf Hakimi dominated the 2025 edition. Since his arrival at PSG in 2021, he has always been among the nominees, with constant progression», added the journalist. As the third longest-serving player in the PSG squad, Hakimi has excelled to the point of becoming «much more than a defender». According to Antoine Grognet, he is even «the prototype of the perfect full-back». The journalist highlights Hakimi's «technical and tactical mastery that allows him to play further up the field, contribute to the heart of the game, and even attack, providing an offensive advantage». ⚽️ Achraf Hakimi, the right-back of Paris Saint-Germain, is the winner of the Marc-Vivien Foé award 2025. ➡️ Awarded annually by RFI and France 24, the Marc-Vivien Foé award recognizes the best African player in Ligue 1. pic.twitter.com/0Qh4CzFwxW — RFI (@RFI) May 12, 2025 In first place for the Marc-Vivien Foé Award, Achraf Hakimi has now totaled 364 points, ahead of Evann Guessand (165) and Habib Diarra (43).
