The crew of an EasyJet flight from Southend, east of London, to Marrakech was forced to divert the plane after a passenger became violently disruptive mid-flight. The crew reported the incident to air traffic control while flying over the Iberian Peninsula, prompting the aircraft to be rerouted to Madrid, where police were called to meet the plane upon arrival. Air traffic controllers immediately followed standard procedures, shortening the aircraft's route and giving it landing priority on runway 32L. Other flights were redirected to the parallel runway to avoid delays.
