Today, Thursday, July 10, Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska visited the Port of Tarifa to oversee the «Marhaba 2025» operation, which has facilitated the crossing of 409,215 passengers and 103,820 vehicles to North Africa through nine Spanish ports since its launch on June 15. According to civil protection data, this represents a 5.6% increase in passenger numbers and a 6.9% rise in vehicles compared to the same period last year. The bulk of the traffic is concentrated at the ports of Algeciras and Tarifa, which together accounted for 76.3% of all passengers (312,331 people) and 74.9% of vehicles (77,812 units). The maritime routes between the Port of Algeciras and Tanger-Med remain among the busiest, with approximately 241,000 passengers and 69,000 vehicles making the crossing. Together, the ports of Algeciras, Tarifa, and Ceuta recorded a total of 1,565 maritime trips—representing 88.9% of all crossings during this year's Marhaba operation.
