Former South African President Jacob Zuma is continuing his visit to Morocco. Following political talks with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita on Tuesday in Rabat, Zuma traveled to Tangier on Wednesday, where he visited the Renault automotive plant in his capacity as leader of the UMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party. The choice of destination is no coincidence. In South Africa, several voices, including within the ruling ANC and President Cyril Ramaphosa's government, have publicly expressed interest in strengthening cooperation with Morocco in the automotive sector. As a reminder, during a conference held in March 2024 in Washington by a U.S.-based think tank and attended by Morocco's ambassador to the United States, Youssef Amrani, former South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor stated that South Africa is eager to benefit from Moroccan expertise in this field. Following his meeting with Nasser Bourita, Jacob Zuma said: «The relations between our two countries hold great potential for development. This is why the MK party has put forward a political stance aimed at resolving the long-standing impasse over the Sahara issue: a strategic partnership for African unity, economic emancipation, and territorial integrity»
