DR ‹ › Morocco takes center stage at the 11th summit of the Organization of African, Caribbean, and Pacific States (OACPS), held this Saturday in Malabo. Leading the Moroccan delegation is the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita. In his address, the Moroccan Foreign Minister emphasized that «under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, Morocco has made a strategic, coherent, and irreversible choice to anchor itself in Africa and promote South-South cooperation». This decision, he elaborated, «is not merely a slogan, but a genuine doctrine that prioritizes partnership over assistance; it transcends exclusive bilateral frameworks to adopt a diversified, integrated, and dynamic vision of partnerships; and it elevates economic partnership as a lever of sovereignty». Nasser Bourita also reviewed Morocco's collaborative efforts with African, Caribbean, and Pacific countries. He noted that since 1999, the Kingdom has concluded «more than 1,607 cooperation agreements, many of which were signed during the 52 royal visits to Africa». The minister further highlighted Morocco's commitment to food security in southern nations. «In 2022 alone, nearly 200,000 tons of fertilizer products were donated and 364,000 tons were delivered at a preferential rate», he specified. Reaffirming the Kingdom's eagerness to strengthen its partnerships, he declared that Morocco is «ready to share its experience; ready to mobilize its expertise; and ready to join forces with yours to build an active multipolar world, where the South carries its full demographic, economic, and strategic weight». Founded in 1975 and comprising 79 countries, the OACPS is headquartered in Brussels. Morocco shares with several of its members two major strategic spaces: the Partnership for the Atlantic, launched by the United States in September 2023, and the Organization of African Atlantic States, a Moroccan initiative launched in 2009.
