The Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Hanna Serwaa Tetteh, praised Morocco on Monday in Rabat for its commitment to facilitating dialogue between Libyan parties. Speaking to the press after her meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita, Tetteh expressed her «deep appreciation» for the Kingdom's efforts to advance the political process in Libya and for its steadfast support of UNSMIL. She described Morocco as a «very important partner» in the efforts to reach agreement and build consensus among Libyan stakeholders, highlighting the Kingdom's contribution to several «crucial milestones» in the ongoing process. Tetteh also referred to the «particularly sensitive phase» Libya is currently experiencing, citing recent tensions in Tripoli and the challenges facing municipal elections. She noted that the UN is working closely with Libyan actors to establish a new political roadmap. In this context, she reaffirmed UNSMIL's commitment to continue supporting the Libyan people, with the backing of Morocco and the broader international community, in order to help bring an end to the ongoing crisis.
