Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane (AUI) has joined the LearningWell Coalition, becoming the first international institution to be welcomed into this network of American universities dedicated to advancing student-centered education. The coalition includes prestigious members such as Georgetown, MIT, Tufts, the University of Southern California, and Arizona State University, the university announced. AUI's entry into the coalition, aligned with its commitment to the American liberal arts and sciences model, represents a historic milestone as it becomes the consortium's inaugural international member. According to the university, this inclusion also marks a pivotal step in the coalition's mission to promote transformative, learner-focused education that prioritizes student well-being and sustainable career development. Al Akhawayn joined the coalition through its «Paths to Purpose» initiative, a comprehensive, campus-wide program that provides students with continuous opportunities to explore their vocations and reflect on their futures throughout their academic journey. The holistic approach is designed to foster academic success, strengthen employability, and prepare students for meaningful lives. «Many young professionals, and even those further along in their careers, eventually realize that their educational, career, or life choices do not align with what truly makes them happy, prompting them to change direction later in life. This often happens because they never had the opportunity to reflect on these choices in a structured way», said AUI President Amine Bensaid. He added, «Such shifts can be avoided by integrating preparation into education». In this spirit, interdisciplinary courses, Honors Program seminars, and final-year projects give students the chance to reflect on ethical questions, life goals, and their broader societal impact.
