Three Moroccan men, aged 21, 22 and 24, are standing trial in Catania, Sicily, after allegedly sexually assaulting two Hungarian tourists at the end of August. The suspects, all without residence permits, had offered the women a ride back to their B&B after a day at La Plaia beach. Instead, they allegedly drove them to a secluded area where a third accomplice was waiting, forced them to take cocaine, and assaulted them, Hungarian and Italian media reported. One victim managed to call her sister in Hungary, giving the van's license plate and asking police to track her phone. Patrols later located the vehicle in Paternò, a town in Sicily, where the women were found in tears on a bench and the three suspects were arrested nearby. The victims were taken to hospital and filed formal complaints. The accused remain in pre-trial detention at Piazza Lanza prison.
