King Mohammed VI has addressed a letter to the Supreme Council of Ulema on the occasion of the 15th-century anniversary of the birth of the Prophet Mohammed. The full text of this royal message was delivered on Monday in Rabat by Ahmed Toufiq, Minister of Habous and Islamic Affairs. The letter outlines several focal points for the Council to consider: «First: To effectively introduce the pristine life of the Prophet and remind people of its various stages, the Council should organize courses, lectures, and academic symposiums in councils, schools, universities, and public venues. This initiative should particularly resonate with young people, highlighting the Prophet's role in guiding humanity from darkness to light through the revelation of monotheistic faith. This celebration offers an opportunity for the Ulema to convey to the faithful that adherence to the monotheistic creed should manifest as a moral duty to educate future generations to forsake all forms of selfishness, both personal and social. Secondly: Similar initiatives should be widely implemented to express gratitude to the Lord for entrusting Morocco's spiritual leadership to the Prophet's lineage, who have remained true to His teachings by upholding His tradition, preserving the wisdom revealed to Him, and following the exemplary moral path He embodied. Thirdly: This occasion should be commemorated with dignity to thank the Lord for guiding us in maintaining the heritage of the Commandery of the Faithful. This divine favor has enabled us to ensure that our community adheres to the religious precepts taught by our Ancestor, the Illustrious Prophet, thereby earning the Lord's approval. We have strived to achieve this by promoting religious practices and instilling noble moral values in believers, both men and women. Fourthly: Our efforts and those of the Kings of Our Alaouite Cherifian Dynasty to preserve the prophetic tradition, especially the hadiths, should be highlighted and made known. In this context, your Council should publish a scholarly edition of Sultan Mohammed Bin Abdellah's work, «Al-Fotouhaate al-Ilahiya fi Ahaadith khayri lbariya» («The Divine Illuminations in the Hadiths of the Best of Men»). Fifthly: Emphasizing the outstanding contributions of Moroccans who have diligently fulfilled the missions entrusted by the Revelation to the Prophet, peace and prayers be upon him, as per God's Word: «He is the One who sent among the unlettered a Messenger from among themselves, reciting to them the verses of Allah, purifying them, and teaching them the Book and Wisdom». Moroccans have always excelled in this divine mission, showing exceptional dedication to the Holy Quran through memorization, recitation, and exegesis. Sixthly: Highlighting the significant interest Moroccans have shown in the Prophet's second mission of purifying souls. This interest has been nurtured by spiritual education institutions, which evolved into Sufi brotherhoods across Morocco. Known for their devotion, these brotherhoods converge in their quest for closeness to the Lord and the perpetuation of the Prophet's example, peace and blessings be upon Him, in total submission to God. Seventhly: Publicizing the mastery displayed by Moroccans in crafting the first collections of praises dedicated to the Prophet, in full reverence of His glorious person. These narratives aim to exalt the Prophet's nature and inspire the soul, drawing from His spirituality through the art of Sama'a (recitation of religious chants). Eighthly: Showcasing an area where Moroccans have excelled: formulating prayers dedicated to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon Him. This includes works such as «ذخيرة المحتاج» («The Indigent's Provision») by Sheikh Maati Cherkaoui and Imam Jazouli's «دلائل الخيرات» («The Guides to the Ways of Goodness»). These prayers served as a spiritual weapon in Morocco's sacred struggle to liberate occupied territories during the 15th Gregorian century. In times of adversity, Moroccans have consistently demonstrated their unwavering devotion to the Prophet, as exemplified by Abu Abbas Al Ozfi in the seventh century of the Hegira, with his work «الدر المنظم في مولد النبي المعظم» («Anthology of Poems Composed in Celebration of the Birth of the Illustrious Prophet»). Ninthly: Your Council must ensure the preparation of a critical edition of Cadi Ayad's book «كتاب الشفا بتعريف حقوق المصطفى» («A Treatise on the Healing Virtues of Knowing the Rights of the Prophet») through a scientific approach. This biography has long established Morocco's reputation in this field worldwide, predating the work «دلائل الخيرات» («The Guides to the Ways of Goodness»). Tenthly: Encouraging the public, especially on this significant anniversary, to increase prayers for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon Him, as instructed by the divine words: «Indeed, Allah and His angels bless the Prophet. O you who have believed, bless Him and grant Him peace». The Councils of Ulema should also host large gatherings where prayers are offered in tribute to the Prophet, attended by religious officials, invokers of God, and all believers.» The royal letter further emphasizes that during these assemblies, attendees should «pray to the Lord for continued security and blessings upon our country and for health and happiness for Us and Our Family». It also stresses that Moroccans living abroad «should be included in these celebrations and related programs through the European Council of Moroccan Ulema and other institutions». «Similarly, our African brothers should be invited to these gatherings, notably through the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema», the message concludes.
