At the 16th Salon du Cheval in El Jadida, the Royal Society for the Encouragement of the Horse (SOREC) has fortified Morocco's global equestrian ties by signing pivotal agreements with Hungary and Spain. These partnerships aim to enhance the preservation of equestrian traditions and promote collaborative advancements in horse breeding, research, and cultural exchanges. The 16th edition of the Salon du Cheval in El Jadida has been marked by two major cooperation agreements signed by the Royal Society for the Encouragement of the Horse (SOREC), reinforcing Morocco's equestrian partnerships abroad. Earlier this week, SOREC concluded a framework agreement with Hungary's Szilvásvárad State Stud Farm. Signed on September 30 by SOREC Director General Omar Skalli and Szilvásvárad Director Dávid Cseri, the deal focuses on preserving and developing equestrian traditions in Morocco and Hungary, two countries renowned for their horse-breeding heritage. The agreement covers the promotion of emblematic breeds such as the Barb, Arab-Barb, and Lipizzan horses, alongside expertise exchange in breeding techniques, applied research, and carriage and equipment technologies, said SOREC. It also aims to deepen technical cooperation and sustain a collaboration established several years ago. On Wednesday, October 1, SOREC signed a second cooperation framework agreement with the Spanish public company EXPASA Agricultura y Ganadería S.M.E., S.A., which manages the renowned stud farm of Pure Spanish Horses of the Cartujan lineage «Cartuja – Hierro del Bocado» in Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz. This partnership extends to breeding, scientific research, training, and cultural events. Planned projects include breeding Cartujan horses for equestrian art performances in Morocco and conducting research into the genetic proximity between the Barb and Cartujan horses. Signed by Omar Skalli and Judit Anda Ugarte, EXPASA's representative, the accord also features knowledge transfer and professional training in horse management and breeding.
