The Atlas Cubs are gearing up to clash with the French squad this Wednesday in the U20 World Cup semi-final. Their strategy? «To leverage our strengths and maintain our signature style», declared Mohammed Ouahbi, the head coach of Morocco's U20 national team. Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday after the final training session at the Maritime Stadium in Vina del Mar, Chile, Ouahbi expressed the team's determination to put on a formidable performance and clinch victory against France in the semi-final. The coach further mentioned that «the technical staff is focused on analyzing the opponent's gameplay and will delve into tactical considerations, all while preserving our own approach without making any drastic changes». He observed that, unlike previous matches, the players did not exhibit much enthusiasm or celebration after the quarter-finals. Instead, «they seemed more composed and balanced, which is a positive indication that they are not content with just reaching this stage, despite their outstanding performance so far», he added. Addressing the team's lineup for the semi-final, the coach confirmed that there are no absences, except for Ali Maamar, who is sidelined due to a yellow card suspension. He stressed that the national team boasts players who are ready to compete at every stage of the tournament. On the subject of the French team, Ouahbi acknowledged their roster of talented players, attributing their success to the time spent honing their synergy. He noted that this cohesion was particularly evident during their round of 16 match against Japan, which they won 1-0. Meanwhile, Moroccan goalkeeper Yanis Benchaouch underscored the significance of the semi-final against France, emphasizing that the team is well-prepared. Midfielder Naïm Bayar highlighted the caliber of the teams that have reached the semi-finals, asserting that the Atlas Cubs are committed to doing everything in their power to reach the final and claim the title. The semi-final showdown with France is scheduled for this Wednesday at the Elias Figueroa Brander Stadium in Valparaiso, kicking off at 9:00 PM Moroccan time.
