The Consulate General of Morocco in Brussels organized a ceremony on Thursday to honor Moroccan U20 internationals Ali Maamar and Anas Tajaouart, who were crowned world champions at the U20 World Cup in Chile. The event was held in the presence of national team coach Mohamed Ouahbi, young players from RSC Anderlecht, where both Maamar and Tajaouart play, and many members of the Moroccan community in Belgium. The ceremony celebrated the two players' remarkable journeys, highlighting their determination, discipline, and success as a source of pride and inspiration for Moroccan youth abroad. In his opening remarks, Hassan Touri, Consul General of Morocco in Brussels, expressed his joy in honoring the two world champions who «proudly carried Morocco's colors» at the U20 World Cup in Chile. Coach Mohamed Ouahbi addressed the young attendees with a message of encouragement and perseverance, urging them to believe in their dreams, work hard, and have confidence in themselves. «Football is, above all, a school of passion, effort, and perseverance», he said. «Whether in sports, school, or life, you must always give your best, keep faith, and stay passionate». For their part, Ali Maamar and Anas Tajaouart expressed deep gratitude for the warm welcome they received at the Moroccan Consulate, saying they were honored to have contributed to this historic chapter in Moroccan football. «Nothing replaces hard work, sacrifice, and perseverance. Every day counts—whether in football or at school», they said, noting that their childhood dreams became reality thanks to faith, discipline, and constant effort.
