The La Mamounia Hotel in Marrakech has reached an agreement with the Spanish company Cirsa to sell 50% of its casino to the publicly listed group, as part of Cirsa's expansion strategy focused on non-organic acquisitions. Cirsa says the purchase will not have a significant impact on its debt, particularly given the expected boost in operating profits once the business is integrated. The company also stressed that the deal will not affect any jobs, with all employees retaining their positions despite the arrival of a new shareholder. With this agreement, Cirsa will operate four casinos in Morocco. The group has been steadily expanding its presence in the country, particularly in the gaming machine sector during the first half of 2025. Morocco still accounts for a relatively small share of Cirsa's results, around 3% of total operating profits, compared to Spain (47%), Panama (11%), and Colombia (9.6%). Since 2022, Cirsa has managed Tangier's only casino, after first entering the Moroccan market in 2016 through the acquisition of a casino in Agadir, before later opening a second entertainment complex there. Cirsa is one of Spain's leading gambling and entertainment groups, operating casinos, gaming halls, and slot machines in several countries worldwide.
