The Marrakech International Film Festival (FIFM 2025) paid a heartfelt tribute on Tuesday to the esteemed Moroccan artist Fatima Harandi, affectionately known as Raouya. The acclaimed actress was honored with the prestigious Golden Star award, presented by director Nour Eddine Lakhmari. The audience erupted into applause, offering a standing ovation to this iconic figure of Moroccan cinema, who embodies the voice, presence, and legacy of the national film industry. During the ceremony, Raouya expressed her deep gratitude to King Mohammed VI for his unwavering support of the arts and artists. She also extended her thanks to Prince Moulay Rachid, president of the FIFM Foundation, sharing her emotions and pride in receiving such an honor. Director Nour Eddine Lakhmari lauded Raouya's exceptional human and professional qualities, describing her as a cherished friend, a courageous woman, and a revered symbol of Moroccan cinema. The tribute ceremony featured screenings of scenes from several films where Raouya delivered outstanding performances, earning her acclaim both nationally and internationally. Additionally, the festival honored Moroccan artists who passed away over the past year, recognizing their invaluable contributions to the country's artistic heritage. Raouya is a prominent figure in Moroccan theater, cinema, and television. Her talent first emerged on the theater stage, and her film career took off when director Mohamed Abazi cast her in «The Treasures of the Atlas». Her commanding presence quickly captured the attention of leading Moroccan directors, including Saâd Chraïbi, Jillali Ferhati, Nour Eddine Lakhmari, Narjiss Nejjar, Laïla Marrakchi, and Abdelhaï Laraki. Raouya has also participated in esteemed international productions alongside filmmakers like Claude Lelouch, Hugh and Sandra Martin, and Xavier Beauvois, earning several awards for her film roles.
