The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has organized a preparation course in Cairo for referees selected to officiate at the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025. The session brought together referees, assistant referees, VAR officials, and technical and physical instructors under the supervision of the CAF Referees Committee. According to CAF, the program aimed to ensure optimal readiness ahead of the tournament. It included physical fitness tests, video analysis sessions, match simulations, and workshops designed to improve decision-making consistency, on-field communication, and the uniform application of the Laws of the Game. Participants were also trained in the use of VAR technology in line with the latest CAF and FIFA standards. CAF previously announced that 73 match officials have been selected for AFCON Morocco 2025, which will take place from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026, including five Moroccan officials.
