DR ‹ › National team coach Walid Regragui on Tuesday described the semi-final clash against Nigeria in Rabat as a «final before the final». Speaking at the pre-match press conference, he underlined how long it has been since Morocco last reached the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). «We are facing a strong and very consistent team, and our objective is clear: to win and qualify for the final», Regragui said. «Nigeria have quality players and a solid bench. What will be crucial for us is mental strength, so we don't allow them to build confidence and impose their technical and physical qualities», he explained, adding that the match «will be a real test for both teams». Regragui also pointed out that Morocco have grown stronger as the tournament has progressed. «We've been building momentum since the opening round, especially as players like Hamza Igamane, Achraf Hakimi and Brahim Diaz have found their rhythm», he said. «We're up against a side that has moved on from its World Cup disappointment and is now fully focused on leaving its mark on this competition». The coach further noted that «this edition's final four is the most competitive we've seen, with African Ballon d'Or winners going head to head», stressing that it «reflects the very best of African football». Goalkeeper Monir El Kajoui also expressed his satisfaction at reaching the AFCON semi-finals. «We've been waiting for this moment for a long time and have worked hard to be ready», he said. «We are mentally, physically and tactically prepared to beat one of Africa's top teams», El Kajoui added. «Every player knows how important this match is, it's a step closer to the final and a chance to fight for the continental title».
