DR ‹ › The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has announced that the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2025, hosted by Morocco, has become the most commercially successful edition in the history of African football, generating more than a 90% increase in CAF revenues. According to CAF, this performance is driven by a sharp rise in commercial partnerships, expanded media rights distribution, and the confederation's entry into new markets, most notably in the Far East, including China and Japan, while consolidating its traditional audiences. The number of sponsors has continued to grow steadily, rising from nine partners at AFCON Cameroon 2021, to 17 at Côte d'Ivoire 2023, and reaching 23 sponsors for the Morocco 2025 edition. CAF attributes this surge to a data-driven commercial strategy launched after AFCON 2023, following an in-depth analysis of audience demand that revealed strong, previously underexploited interest in markets such as China, Japan, Brazil, and key European countries. CAF's sponsor base now spans multiple continents, with partners from the United States, China, Germany, Japan, Morocco, Côte d'Ivoire, the United Kingdom, and, for the first time, Turkey. The European Union has also joined as a sponsor, while long-term partners including TotalEnergies, Orange, Visa, Puma, and Tecno have renewed their commitments. CAF has also entered the eSports and gaming sector with the launch of eAFCON, developed in partnership with Konami's eFootball, marking the confederation's first move into digital competition. From the next AFCON cycle onward, these digital assets will form part of CAF's commercial portfolio.
