DR ‹ › On Wednesday, the King's Prosecutor at the Rabat Court of First Instance ordered the prosecution of 18 Senegalese supporters and one Algerian fan, all held in custody, in connection with the riots that broke out during the Africa Cup of Nations final. The decision followed their appearance before the public prosecutor and subsequent questioning, according to Hespress. Based on the findings of the judicial police investigation, the suspects were referred to trial, with the first hearing scheduled for February 4. Security forces arrested the individuals last Sunday. The Senegalese supporters were placed in preventive detention for questioning over acts of rioting inside the stadium, while the Algerian fan was also detained on suspicion of inciting the unrest. The incidents occurred just minutes before the end of regular time in the final, which Senegal won 1–0 against Morocco. Several Senegalese supporters attempted to storm the pitch for around 15 minutes, before security forces and event organizers managed to restore order with difficulty. Projectiles were also thrown onto the field, further heightening tensions in the stands.
