DR ‹ › Morocco has reached a milestone in its lemon export industry, recording its highest volume in five seasons during the 2024/2025 period, effectively reversing a four-year downward trend, as reported by the «East Fruit» platform. Between November 2024 and October 2025, Morocco exported approximately 9,700 tons of lemons, generating over 5 million US dollars. This marks an impressive 80% increase compared to the 2023/2024 season, and represents the strongest performance since the 2010/2011 season, when exports hit a record 18,000 tons. Moroccan lemon exports had previously neared record levels in the 2019/2020 season with about 17,000 tons, but subsequently experienced a decline, reaching a low of roughly 5,300 tons in the 2023/2024 season. The 2024/2025 figures not only signify substantial growth but also break the negative trend observed in recent years. Export patterns have also evolved; where shipments used to peak in February and drop sharply by April, recent seasons have witnessed a more even distribution. Notably, in the 2024/2025 season, April saw the highest export volume, with robust levels continuing into May. Mauritania remains the top destination for Moroccan lemons, accounting for 45% of total exports. The United Kingdom emerged as the second-largest importer, surpassing the 1,000-ton mark for the first time in 17 years, followed by Russia, which accounts for 9.2% of total shipments. Meanwhile, the Netherlands and Canada have resumed imports, although exports to France have decreased by 20%.
