DR ‹ › The industrial partnership between Morocco and Baykar Technologies has reached a new milestone. Ahead of the opening of its facility in Benslimane, Atlas Defence is recruiting five specialists in drone manufacturing. The positions include mechanical technician, electronics technician, aeronautical paint technician, aeronautical structures technician, and test pilot. Under a strategic agreement signed in December 2024, the Benslimane plant is expected to become operational in 2026. «The facility will focus on the production and maintenance of next-generation drones specifically designed to meet the needs of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR). This project goes beyond assembling models already acquired by Morocco, it represents a major technological step forward and a turning point for the country's defense industry», a source close to the matter told Yabiladi. Baykar, a leading Turkish drone manufacturer, had previously announced plans to establish a factory in Morocco. The project was confirmed in Official Bulletin No. 5857, published on January 29, 2025, highlighting the deepening strategic partnership between Rabat and Ankara. The Moroccan subsidiary, named Atlas Defence and based in Rabat, has a capital of 2.5 million dirhams. Its activities will include the design, manufacturing, and maintenance of drones, as well as the production of spare parts and technological systems for the defense sector. Atlas Defence is equally owned by Lütfü Haluk Bayraktar and Selçuk Bayraktar, the latter being the son-in-law of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan since 2016. The company was registered in Morocco's commercial registry on December 5, 2024.
