DR ‹ › On Thursday, the Kenitra Primary Court sentenced 14 students from Ibn Tofail University, who had been either detained or released on provisional bail following protests calling for the postponement of exams. The court handed down two-month prison sentences and fines of 500 dirhams each to ten students who had been provisionally released, including three women, as well as four others who had been held in custody. The National Union of Moroccan Students in Kenitra said the prosecutions stemmed from «their clear involvement in a legitimate student struggle defending public universities and their historical gains». The union strongly denounced what it described as «a predetermined verdict and a sham trial targeting our comrades and all those involved in this case», and called for «the immediate release of political detainees and the dropping of all charges against the students and activists».
