DR ‹ › The recent phone conversations between King Mohammed VI and several leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), following Iranian aggressions, reflect Morocco's unwavering and brotherly solidarity with these nations. This was stated on Thursday by Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad. Speaking during the 8th Joint Morocco-GCC Ministerial Meeting, held via videoconference, Bourita reiterated the kingdom's support for all measures taken by GCC countries to defend their sovereignty. He noted that this position is consistent with the stance expressed by the sovereign during the Morocco-GCC Summit held on April 20, 2016, where King Mohammed VI emphasized that both sides share «the same challenges and face the same threats, particularly in the security domain». The minister also called for strengthening cooperation and preparing for the post-crisis period in order to actively contribute to shaping new global «equations». In this context, he stressed the importance of implementing the guidelines of the Morocco-GCC Summit held in Saudi Arabia in 2016 through concrete programs. Bourita also welcomed the decision to extend the joint action plan until 2030. On another note, the minister affirmed that a fair solution to the Palestinian issue remains essential for security and peace in the region. In this regard, Bourita recalled that King Mohammed VI, in his capacity as Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, consistently calls for uniting regional and international efforts to achieve a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian cause within the framework of the two-state solution. Such a solution would enable the Palestinian people to exercise their legitimate rights, notably through the establishment of an independent state on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
